Terms of service

Last updated: July 5th, 2026

These terms govern your use of the shrkbot Discord bot and its web dashboard (the "Service"), operated by Tim Engelhardt. By adding shrkbot to a server, using its features or signing in to the dashboard, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

The service

shrkbot is a general-purpose Discord bot whose features — self-assignable roles, reminders, welcome and leave messages, activity logging and automated moderation — are enabled per server and configured through commands and this website. The Service is provided free of charge.

Eligibility

You must meet Discord's minimum age requirement and comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines when using the Service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service to violate Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines or any applicable law;
  • abuse, disrupt, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • use the Service to harass others or to store or distribute unlawful content;
  • attempt to circumvent limits, security or access controls.

Your responsibilities as a server admin

If you add shrkbot to a server or configure it, you're responsible for how it's used there — including any messages you configure it to send (such as welcome messages) and any logging you enable. Where you enable features that process other members' data, you're responsible for having a proper basis to do so and for informing your members as applicable law requires.

Availability and changes

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We may change, suspend, add or remove features, or take the Service offline, at any time and without notice. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that data will never be lost.

Limitation of liability

We are liable without limit for damages caused by intent or gross negligence and for culpable injury to life, body or health. Beyond that, and to the extent legally permissible, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages or for loss of data arising from your use of, or inability to use, the free Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Privacy

Our handling of data is described in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Open source

shrkbot's source code is published under the MIT licence. That licence covers the code; your use of the instance we operate is governed by these terms.

Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time by removing shrkbot from your server — which permanently deletes that server's data — or by deleting your dashboard account. We may restrict or terminate access for any server or user that breaches these terms or that we reasonably believe is misusing the Service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll update the "last updated" date and, for significant changes, try to give notice through the Service. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules and subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
